Public Exhibitions 2009

Landguard Point

Key stakeholders, groups and organisations have previously been invited to sessions for comment on the draft SMP. Their comments were then recorded and taken into account in the policies. This was followed by a Public Consultation phase, in which the proposed draft management policies for the Suffolk coastline were presented to the public.

The consultation period ran from 1st July 2009 to 30th September 2009 and is now closed. During this period, the public were invited to comment, either by letters and emails or by completing a form on the website. There were also a series of six ‘drop-in’ exhibitions, each of which was attended by councillors and officers of the project partners, along with representatives from Terry Oakes Associates Ltd, who are project managing the review, and Haskoning UK, the consultants.

The purpose of the exhibitions was to provide the public with an opportunity to review the process used to identify possible policy options for the management of the Suffolk coastline; examine the proposed draft policies for each policy zone; and ask questions of the experts. They were held at

  • Southwold - Saturday, 4th July at the Stella Peskett Millenium Hall (map); 12 - 5 pm
  • Kessingland - Tuesday, 7th July at St. Edmunds Church Hall (map); 2 - 6 pm
Please note that this event now closes an hour earlier than originally planned
  • Walberswick - Wednesday, 8th July at the Suffolk Coast & Heaths Visitor Centre (map); 2 - 7 pm
Please note the change of venue - the Visitor Centre is 100 yrds from the Village Hall
  • Hollesley - Thursday, 16th July at Hollesley Village Hall (map); 2 - 7 pm
  • Aldeburgh - Friday, 17th July at St. Peter & St. Paul Church Hall (map); 11 am - 7 pm
